Frasco helps Prospect win at Conant

Emily Frasco finished 3-for-5 from 3-point range and scored a game-high 19 points to help Prospect's girls basketball team top Conant 63-59 on Tuesday in a Mid-Suburban League third-place divisional crossover hosted by the Cougars.

Jessica Kowalczyk, Stephanie Kowalczyk and Sara Biesterfeldt each scored 10 points for the Knights (15-9), who shot 21-for-41 from the field and 15-for-21 from the foul line.

"We beat a red-hot Conant team tonight," said Prospect coach Gabrielle Lovin. "We are excited to start the postseason and test ourselves mentally and physically.

The Cougars (9-17) were led by Stephanie Mazurek (14 points).

Elk Grove 49, Barrington 43: Rachel Kandefer led the way for the visiting Grens with 14 points in an MSL crossover.

Elk Grove (13-14) came from behind, scoring 18 points in the fourth quarter. Kandefer was key, getting 10 points on 4 field goals and 2 of 2 at the foul line.

Megan Murray and Zoe Blomquist also broke into double figures with 10 points apiece for the Grens.

Barrington (9-16) got 10 points from both Anna Mae King and Tori Meyer, and 9 from Taylor Thompson.

"Anna Mae had some big buckets for us," said Barrington coach Babbi Barreiro whose team converted only 5-of-15 free throws. "But defensively, we gave up too many easy looks and did not box out. And we also have to do a better job making our free throws."

Hoffman Estates 40, Buffalo Grove 39: Tayler Williams (15 points), Alysa Dupart (11) and Raven Wilson (10) led host Hoffman Estates (10-18) in the MSL crossover. Williams had five 3-pointers while Dupart had three.

Kendra Lee and Sam Hansen led the Bison (5-24) with 7 points while Alyssa Floro and Heide Schmit each had 6.

Wheeling 40, Schaumburg 33: Morgan Collar (14 points) and Nosa Igiehon (10) helped the visiting Wildcats prevail in MSL divisional crossover action and finish their regular season at 14-13.

Vicky Aguirre led the way for Schaumburg (4-22) with 11 points.
