Bullman, Drevline boost Grayslake Central

Kate Bullman and Rosie Drevline each scored 13 points, and Grayslake Central defeated visiting Vernon Hills 45-31 in nonconference girls basketball action Monday night.

Drevline sank three 3-pointers, as Grayslake Central improved to 18-7 with its fourth win in a row and ninth in its last 10 games.

Kayla Caudle had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Vernon Hills (15-9), which trailed 21-17 at the half. The Cougars took a one-point lead in the third quarter, but Bullman went on a personal run, scoring 11 points in the quarter to put the Rams up 38-27 entering the fourth.

"I really thought we would go down to the wire, but they locked us down with their defense," Cougars coach Paul Brettner said. "At the same time, our defense had lapses as we allowed open shot after open shot. We've got some work to do by tournament time if we want to make a run."

Libertyville 54, Carmel 42: Lydia Crow and Lauren Huber each scored 12 points for the visiting Wildcats in the nonconference game.

Libertyville (13-11) played without point guard and leading scorer Margaret Buchert. Brooke Bair hit two key shots, including a 3-pointer, down the stretch. Crow sank four 3-pointers, and Maddie Spauding added 8 points.

"I like the focus we played with on defense," Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen said. "Also, we had great productivity from our bench, who really answered the bell."

Carmel (12-13) received 11 points for Brigit Barr and nine from Ranya Jamison.

Marengo 52, Round Lake 34: The visiting Panthers trailed just 23-18 at halftime but got outscored 21-9 in the third quarter.

Giselle Raygoza scored 7 points for Round Lake (7-18).
