Warren stops Zion-Benton, grabs NSC lead
Barak Diehl's 12 points led a balanced scoring attack, and Warren's boys basketball team defeated host Zion-Benton 53-43 Saturday night, taking over sole possession of first place in the North Suburban Conference in the process.
Ryan Short and Ian Schilling each scored 11 points for the Blue Devils, who played their fourth game in a row without leading scorer Branden Ellis (knee). Warren improved to 13-8 and 5-1 in the NSC, a game ahead of both Libertyville, which lost to Lake Zurich, and Stevenson, which defeated Waukegan.
Zion-Benton fell to 2-4 in the NSC.
Jacob Rich added 8 points for Warren.
Lake Forest 56, Mundelein 38: The Mustangs came up short on the road in North Suburban Conference play as Tommy Marcotte (14 points), Conor Enright (13) and Andrew Silva (6) led the scoring effort for Mundelein (12-9, 2-4).
Lake Forest improved to 6-11 and 1-5 in the NSC.
Antioch 52, Badger 45: Ben Nauman scored 14 points, Dan Filippone added 13, and the visiting Sequoits picked up the nonconference win in Wisconsin.
Andrew Hare had 10 points for Antioch (8-9).
