IHSA honors nine referees from suburbs

Nine referees from the suburbs are among 20 being honored statewide by the Illinois High School Association as 2017-18 Officials of the Year.

The honorees include: Ted Lepucki of Arlington Heights for football; Mark Anderson of Arlington Heights for boys swimming and diving; Victor Rarau of Mount Prospect for water polo; Gina Dryden of Schaumburg for competitive dance; Chris Rudolph of Libertyville for boys soccer; Gerard Blum of Lake Zurich for girls basketball; David Perillo of Naperville for boys volleyball; Frank Navakowski of Carol Stream for boys gymnastics; and Lora Boehne Kalka of Pingree Grove for girls gymnastics.

Officials must be nominated by an officials association recognized by the IHSA, and are selected based on character, skill and levels worked in the IHSA State Series. Winners will be recognized July 21 in East Peoria.
