Boys swimming: Cary-Grove's fastest at Elk Grove

Cary-Grove's boys swimming and diving team managed the top team finish in all three divisions - fast, faster and fastest - in the eight-team invitational hosted by Elk Grove on Saturday.

Senior Omid Babakhani and sophomore Peyton Richardson both won two individual events apiece for the Trojans. Babakhani was tops in the 'fastest' 50-yard freestyle (23.10) and in the 'fast' heat of the 100 back (1:00.54).

Richardson won the 'fastest' heats of both the 200 IM (2:06.40) and the 100 fly (56.38).

Hoffman Estates' Mark Heitkotter was second in the fastest heat of the 50 free (23.14).

Elk Grove senior Mike Kulpa took third in the fastest heat of the 100 free (51.08) and 100 back (58.46), and junior Adrian Wlodarz grabbed third in the fastest heat of the 50 free (23.29) and 100 breast (1:05.11).

St. Viator frosh-soph: Glenbrook North (384 points), Cary-Grove (361) and Prospect (256) took the top three spots in the frosh-soph invite hosted by St. Viator.

Prospect freshman Kevin Soltys won the 100 backstroke in 57.78 and also placed second in the 500 free (5:13.24), and classmate Christopher Partipilo was second in both the 50 free (24.00) and 100 free (54.20).

Cary-Grove had the top 200 free relay as Ben Fejer, Matt McClellan, JT Matthias and Michael Bartczyszyn finished in 1:45.64.
