Wolves edge Iowa Wild to extend point streak

DES MOINES, Iowa - T.J. Tynan helped set up both Chicago Wolves goals as the team stretched its point streak to 11 games with a 2-1 victory over the Iowa Wild Monday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Wolves (15-12-5-2) scored twice in the first period as Tobias Lindberg netted a short-handed goal for Chicago's fifth of the season and Mackenzie MacEachern registered his third marker of the year.

With defenseman Chris Casto serving a high-sticking infraction, Tynan and Lindberg found space for a short-handed chance. Tynan fed a pass through the slot to Lindberg for the 1-0 lead just 2:39 into the game.

Later, just as Casto was leaving the box after a different penalty, Tynan cut toward the slot and dropped a pass back to MacEachern trailing up the left wing. He zipped a shot past Steve Michalek (7-3-2) to double the lead at 6:55.

After a scoreless second session, the Wild (15-11-6-2) cut the Wolves' lead 2-1 when Mario Lucia redirected the puck past Max Lagace (8-2-2) from atop the crease at 9:45 of third period.

With Michalek on the bench in favor of an extra attacker for the final 1:18 of the game, the Wolves weathered the Wild for the win.

Lagace made 25 saves in his eighth victory of the season while Michalek stopped 27 shots in the loss.

On Wednesday, Jan. 3, the Cleveland Monsters visit Allstate Arena for the first time this season. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m., and the game will stream on AHLLive.com.
