Antioch's on target at the end, sinks Z-B

Antioch's long-range shooting wasn't much of a factor - until game's end, when it made all the difference.

Host Zion-Benton and Antioch combined to make 5 of 31 attempted 3s, but Piper Foote's try in the final minute was good as the Sequoits won 35-32 in nonconference play.

It was the only 3 of the game for Foote, who had 4 assists in the second half and came up with 3 steals as Antioch won for the second straight time.

Kaitlyn Stay came off the bench to lead the Sequoits (2-9) with a varsity career-best 9 points. She also blocked a shot in the final seconds to help Antioch protect its lead.

Taylor Feltner contributed 7 points and a team-best 7 rebounds for the Sequoits, who made 10 of 14 free throws while Zion-Benton converted on 13 of 28.

Olivia Ori finished with 6 points and Foote had 5 for Antioch, which next plays in tournament action Dec. 27 at Lisle.

Wauconda 61, Woodstock 40: Allie Tylka poured in a game-high 19 points and grabbed 9 rebounds to lead Wauconda in a fourth-place semifinal of the Northern Illinois Holiday Classic at McHenry.

Michaela Kimbell and Carly Motley added 9 points apiece for the Bulldogs while teammate Kiley Szmajda had 8 points and 7 big blocks.

"After a slow start we started getting everyone on the same page and executing better in the second quarter," Wauconda coach Jaime Dennis said. "I was pleased with the effort today, we were able to stretch the lead after each quarter. We have had some struggles handling the ball this year but today only 16 turnovers. That is much improved.

Round Lake 35, Richmond-Burton 28: In the other fourth-place semifinal at McHenry, Kiara Billups ignited the Panthers with 12 points. Emily Etherington and Samantha Nicoline added 8 points each.
