Williams fires home 19 points as Hoffman wins tourney opener

Hoffman Estates officially kicked off the holiday tournament season for area girls basketball teams by winning its first game at the McHenry Invite.

Coach Mike Koester's Hawks received a career-high 19 points from senior guard Tayler Williams and edged Woodstock North 44-42.

Williams connected for three 3-pointers while sophomore teammate Nora Thomas had two from long range and finished with 10 points.

Junior center Raven Wilson chipped in 8 points for the Hawks and sophomore forward Patrica Wadas had 5.

The Hawks (3-7) continue play in the tourney on Saturday with a pair of games. They face Round Lake at 10:30 a.m. and host McHenry at 1 p.m.
