Forsberg strong, but Blackhawks fall to Dallas

Alexander Radulov and Tyler Seguin beat Blackhawks goalie Anton Forsberg in the shootout and host Dallas beat the Hawks 3-2 on Saturday night.

Stars goalie Ben Bishop stopped Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, sending the Hawks to 12-9-5 and into fifth place in the Central Division. They are 2-5 when a game goes past regulation.

Brandon Saad and Cody Franson scored for the Hawks. Saad almost won it with 1:29 left in overtime, but his one-timer hit the crossbar.

With Corey Crawford on injured reserve and out at least a week with a lower-body injury, Forsberg played a solid game and stopped 33 of 35 shots. His most impressive save came when he lunged to his left to stop a wicked one-timer by Radulov with 6:57 remaining in the first period.

"He was good. Gave us a chance," coach Joel Quenneville told reporters. "They had some great looks, good chances and people at the net. Some dangerous zone time. You've got a 2-2 game on the road with a chance to win it in OT. You don't mind (that)."

Saturday morning, Quenneville told reporters that Crawford is suffering from a minor lower-body injury that the team doesn't think will keep him out long term. Crawford will miss Sunday's game against Los Angeles and Wednesday's at Washington, but the Hawks hope he can return either Friday against Buffalo or next Sunday vs. Arizona.

Dallas' regulation goals came from Radulov and Radek Faska, and also got 32 saves from Bishop. The Stars (15-10-1) also beat the Hawks in overtime on Thursday.

"Anytime you lose in shootouts or overtimes in back-to-back games like that, especially (in) division games, it's frustrating," Franson said. "But we were a little too sloppy in this one tonight."

Franson scored his first goal as a Blackhawk at 8:31 of the first period by taking a pass from Ryan Hartman and firing a quick shot from just inside the blue line that beat Bishop. Duncan Keith also had an assist on the goal, his 14th of the season.

"The guys did a great job down low," Franson told NBCSCH after the period. "We made a good play from behind the net from Duncs, and Harts made a good play coming out of the other side and moving it right away. When a forward moves it right away like that from down low, it gives us an extra second up top and I was able to hit the mark."

Franson was a healthy scratch in nine of the first 11 games, but has only sat out once since Oct. 28.

Saad's goal was his 10th goal of the season. He tipped in a Connor Murphy blast with 40.8 seconds left in the second period to tie the game at 2-2.
