Crystal Lake South topples Streamwood

The Crystal Lake South girls basketball team grabbed its first win over the season thanks to Lauren Schoen's game-high 19 points during a 48-40 win over Streamwood at the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament Wednesday night.

Schoen got hot with 10 points in the third quarter, where the Gators (1-0) opened up a 10-point lead after trailing by 1 at the half. Emily Sulikowski chipped in 7 points while Maddie Bush and Ava Sevcik each added 6 points.

Mandy Mien scored a team-high 15 points for the Sabres (0-1), who included a 9-for-13 clip at the free throw stripe. Riya Patel also added 9 points for Streamwood.

Homewood-Flossmoor 35, Jacobs 19: The Golden Eagles (0-1) were unable to come up with a win in their season debut in the Dundee-Crown Thanksgiving Tournament despite a great first quarter start. Jacobs, which went into the second quarter leading 9-8 was outscored 27-10 the final 3 quarters. Kerri Healy and Elizabeth Schwartz each had 5 points and a 3-pointer for Jacobs.

Westminster Christian 25, Harvest Christian JV 20: Elise VanNoord poured in 20 points and had 5 rebounds for the Warriors (2-0) at the Elgin Academy Thanksgiving Tournament. Keely Frens added 6 rebounds and 3 steals.
