Girls volleyball: South Elgin, Batavia earn UEC crossover wins

Elizabeth Vedrine had 9 kills and Yvalis Cortes-Rojas added 7 digs Tuesday night to lead the South Elgin girls volleyball team to a 25-13, 25-7 Upstate Eight crossover win over Streamwood.

Casie Swanson added 10 assists for the Storm, who extended their win streak to 14 and moved their school-record win total for the season to 25 against 7 losses.

Batavia d. East Aurora: Maddy Boyer had 9 kills while Hannah Yaconis added 5 kills and 3 blocks as Batavia won 25-4, 25-7 in a UEC crossover. Allie Zink added 3 aces and Becca Robinson had 4 digs for the Bulldogs (21-13).

Kaneland d. Aurora Christian: Katie Jablonski (6 digs) and Sheika Mushunduzi (5 digs) had 10 kills each as Kaneland (26-7) outlasted Aurora Christian 20-25, 25-20, 25-15 in a nonconference match. Shelby Hannula and Sydney Fedderly had 13 assists each for the Knights and Julianna Vassallo added 12 digs.

Huntley d. CL South: Aleah Amelio had 7 kills and Taylor Jakubowski added 17 assists and 9 digs to lead Huntley to a 25-18, 25-6 Fox Valley Conference win. Sarah Zayas had 10 digs for the Red Raiders (24-6, 14-1). Megan House led Crystal Lake South (13-12, 5-10) with 7 kills while Emily Slimko had 12 assists and Aurora Nero 8 digs.

Harvest Christian d. South Beloit: Rylee Boldog served 8 aces and Zoe Pawelek had 4 to lead Harvest (25-10) to a 25-14, 25-9 Northeastern Athletic Conference win.

Cary-Grove d. Hampshire: Maggie Seagren had 10 kills, 3 blocks and 3 aces and Sophie Holtz added 13 assists for Hampshire in a 17-25, 25-21, 25-13 Fox Valley Conference loss. Abby Dedina added 12 digs for the Whip-Purs.

Rockford Christian Life d. Westminster Christian: Grace Bickford (3 aces, 3 digs, 8 kills), Sophia Hopkins (2 aces, 15 assists) and Kristen Mason (2 aces, 3 kills) led Westminster (10-15, 2-8) in a 25-22, 15-25, 25-22 Northeastern Athletic Conference loss.
