Niro nets Bears honor

Senior quarterback Ray Niro of Barrington has been named as Papa John's Chicago Bears High School All-Star for his efforts in Week 7 of the high school football season.

Niro threw for 156 yards and 3 touchdowns, rushed for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns and received a 37-yard pass for a touchdown to help the Barrington Broncos (7-0) notch a 47-21 against Hoffman Estates (6-1).

The Broncos are ranked fifth in the Associated Press' Class 8A rankings and remain the only undefeated team in either division of the Mid-Suburban League.

Barrington clinched a postseason spot the previous week after recording a 26-24 win at Palatine on Sept. 28.
