Girls volleyball: Kaneland reaches 20 wins
Kaneland picked up its 20th win of the season by beating Morris 25-18, 25-19 in Northern Illinois Big XII East action Thursday,
Sheika Mushunduzi paced the Knights with 6 kills, Meg Andrews had 4 and Grace Franz and Shelby Hannula both added 3. Shelby Hannula led with 8 assists and 5 digs; Julianna Vassallo also had 5 digs, and Mallory Burgin added 4 digs and 7 assists.
South Elgin d. Elgin: South Elgin pulled closer to a 20-win season with a victory over Elgin in Upstate Eight Conference crossover action.
Elizabeth Vedrine led the Storm (19-7) with 8 kills and Angelina Negron added 7 and Hayley Fisher 5. Casie Swanson set 12 assists and served 3 aces, and Kendall Richardson 11 had 11 assists. Sarah Murray led in digs with 12 and Yvalis Cortes-Rojas had 9.
Crystal Lake Central d. Dundee-Crown: The Chargers (4-16, 1-14) were led by Jenna Thelen (4 kills), Tarrah Kamp (3 kills), Irene Martin (2 kills), Zoe Sitarz (8 digs), Carolyn Ptaszek (4 digs), Claire Muhvic (3 digs, 3 assists) and Jenna Brown (6 assists).
Christian Liberty d. Westminster Christian: The Warriors (9-12, 2-8) lost despite strong games from Grace Bickford (3 aces, 3 digs, 2 kills), Sophia Hopkins (7 assists, 3 digs, 2 kills) and Sophie Kovachevich (4 digs).
Hampshire d. Crystal Lake South: The Whip-Purs improved to 11-14 and 4-10 in the FVC with a 13-25, 25-20, 25-21 comeback win on senior night.
Maggie Seagren (12 kills, 5 digs), Riley Seagren (6 kills, 2 blocks), Lucy Magnussen (4 kills, 2 blocks), Sophie Holtz (13 assists) and Abby Dedina (10 digs) led Hampshire.
