Girls volleyball: Grayslake Central rallies past Grayslake North

Cassidy Beshel slammed 10 kills and served an ace, and Grayslake Central's girls volleyball team rallied past Grayslake North 18-25, 25-13, 25-22 in Northern Lake County Conference action Thursday night.

Lauren LaBeck racked up 24 assists, 5 aces and 3 kills for the Rams (22-11, 4-1), who celebrated Senior Night. Michelle Maraist and Elisa Koshy had 5 and 3 kills, respectively. Lizzie Twardock and Lilly Bell each had 2 kills.

"Grayslake North always bring their best against us, and tonight was no exception," Grayslake Central coach Jason Janczak said. "We had a great night as we honored our seven seniors and got the win against our crosstown rival who played us very tough and who are much improved. Tonight was for our seniors, and I'm proud of how our team delivered the win for them."

Erin McBrairty had 14 digs for Grayslake North, while Alyssa Grezel tallied 5 kills and 11 digs. The Knights' other contributors included Jessica Pozeziski (8 kills), Abby Cunnigham (10 assists), Lindsey Deip (5 assists) and Abby Hamiltion (5 digs).

Lakes d. Round Lake: Erica Grant had 9 kills, Paule Ceneac added, and the Eagles remained perfect in the Northern Lake County Conference by winning 25-11, 25-20.

Lakes (25-3, 6-0) also got contributions from Faith Conway (12 assists, 4 digs), Devinn Bell (11 assists, 2 digs), Kailtyn Clay (4 kills, 1 ace) and Alyssa Bombicinio (8 digs, 1 ace).

Grant d. Wauconda: Grant captured a 25-19, 25-22 decision in the Northern Lake County Conference match.

Riley Aldrich had 8 kills for Wauconda (17-15, 4-2), which also received 19 digs from Jane Sakowicz and 4 kills apiece from Nicole Carazas and Zoe Turnbull. Savannah Johnson had 2 aces and 6 assists, and Summer Olsen handed out 11 assists.

Antioch d. North Chicago: Breanne Kramer had 5 kills, Kennedy Moll added 5 kills and 13 assists, and the Sequoits won 25-6, 25-6 in Norhern Lake County Conference action.

Antioch (21-11-1, 3-3) also received 4 aces and 5 digs from Brianna Vettese and 4 digs from Morgan Bennett.
