Boys golf: Prospect's Busch earns state return

Prospect junior Charlie Busch has earned a second straight appearance in the boys golf state finals.

Busch fired a 76 at Winnetka Golf Club, tying him with six others at that number - including junior teammate John Cantieri - for one of the individual state-qualifying berths in the Class 3A New Trier sectional.

The low score of the day came from Loyola junior Ben Scherman (71). That effort helped Loyola shoot 291 for top team honors. Joining the Ramblers downstate in the team race will be New Trier (294) and Lake Park (308).

As a team, Prospect finished tied for seventh with Maine South at 319. Also competing for the Knights were Riley Kingston (83), Jack Knott and Nate Dunker (84s) and Josh Kern (90).

Hoffman Estates' top finisher was Alex Harrison (79), and Schaumburg was led by Nick Tudor (79).
