Boys soccer: Geneva upends West Aurora

The Geneva boys soccer team downed Upstate Eight Valley champion West Aurora 1-0 in a UEC crossover on Eric Anderson's goal. The Vikings (10-4-2) upped their win streak to 3 and ended the Blackhawks' (16-3-1) win streak at five.

Elgin 4, Glenbard South 0: Jesus Lopez and Cris Colin each had 1 goal and 1 assist in a nonconference win for the Maroons (13-2-2). Alex Kunicki and Omar Lopez also provided goals for Elgin, which saw Martin Jimenez grab a shutout despite no saves in net.

Jacobs 4, McHenry 3: Noah Melick and Colin Walsh each scored twice in a Fox Valley Conference win over the Warriors. Walsh also supplied 2 assists while Gabe Swarthout and Dan Buirge each had 1 for Jacobs (11-5-1), which improved to 6-1 overall in conference. This sets up a big match to end the season with the title on the line as well as a possible sectional preview against No. 4 Dundee-Crown in Algonquin Tuesday.

CL South 1, Huntley 0: The Gators (10-9-1, 3-4) staved off the Red Raiders in FVC action thanks to Nikolas Getzinger, Alex Canfield and Brandon Gorka. Getzinger connected with Canfield who scored the only goal while Gorka in net provided 2 saves for the shutout.

Kaneland 4, Yorkville 1: Tucker Jahns provided a hat trick of goals and Allan Dominguez did the same in the assist department in a NI Big 12 win for the Knights (12-3-3, 4-1-2). Kaneland also saw Brian Bartholomew bury home a penalty kick as well.
