Girls volleyball: Leyden fourth at IMSA Invite

Leyden girls volleyball team took fourth place out of 12 teams who competed at the Illinois Math & Science Academy Invite on Saturday.

The Eagles notched wins over Serena (25-19, 25-10), host IMSA (25-21, 22-25, 15-9) and Joliet Central (25-15, 19-25, 15-11) while falling in two sets to McHenry and Kennedy.

Junior outside hitter Destiny Corral (38 kills, 5 aces) was the top attacker for Leyden followed by senior right side hitter Camryn McGee (20 kills, 4 aces), senior middle hitter Victoria Schulmeister (12 kills) and junior outside hitter Kim Silva (12 kills),

Senior setter Andrea Horvath directed the attack with 70 assists while also serving 6 aces. Junior libero Bea Verin led the back row with 53 digs,
