Boys soccer: St. Edward makes it 15-0

The St. Edward boys soccer team simply refuses to lose.

The Green Wave moved to 15-0 overall after a 7-0 Metro Suburban Red win over IC Catholic Prep Thursday. And it wasn't even close in the first half as all 7 goals were scored in the first 40 minutes.

AJ Franklin posted yet another hat trick while Josh Johansen had one as well. Marc Stasinski rounded out the scoring for the Wave (4-0 MSC Red), while Uriel Carachure did most of the assisting with 2. Carlos Ibarra also added an assist and goalkeepers Evan Sajtar (1 save) and Peter Cholewa (5 saves) combined for a 6-save shutout, St. Edward's eighth of the season.

Christian Liberty and Rockford Christian are next up for the Wave before Sunday's PepsiCo Challenge Lungevity championship game against Lincoln-Way Central at Triton College in River Grove.

Streamwood 2, Geneva 0: The Sabres (9-4-1, 2-0-1) got back on track with a big Upstate Eight River road win behind the legs of Alex Chavez and Aldo Lazaro, who scored goals. Daniel Dominguez shut down the Vikings (6-3-1, 1-1) in goal with a 3 save shutout while Gregorio Esteves totaled 1 assist.

Jacobs 4, Huntley 1: Colin Walsh assisted twice and scored a goal for the Golden Eagles (10-4, 3-0), who coasted to a big Fox Valley Conference win. Jacobs led 3-0 at the half as Noah Melick (1 assist), Gabe Swarthout and Jack Rainer scored goals. Brian Zust added an assist and goalie Preston Krahl tallied 4 saves. Kyle Owens supplied Huntley's lone goal and Raul Valladares had 1 assist for the Red Raiders (5-9, 1-2).

South Elgin 5, Glenbard West 1: The Storm (5-6-2) had an array of contributors in this nonconference win. Liam Swason totaled 1 goal and 1 assist while Jacob Zupan, Jackson Lamb, Anthony Sister, Lucas Reutimann all scored goals. Royce Robinson, Chris Stanzyk, Matt McKee and Julian Defensor all had assists as well.
