Girls volleyball: Huntley, South Elgin earn wins

Julia Johnson had 8 kills while Sarah Zayas added 9 digs Tuesday night as the Huntley girls volleyball team remained undefeated with a 25-19, 25-23 Fox Valley Conference win over Prairie Ridge.

Taylor Jakubowski added 21 assists and 13 digs for the Red Raiders (8-0, 8-0).

South Elgin d. East Aurora: Hayley Fisher had 7 kills to lead South Elgin (5-4, 2-1) to a 25-13, 25-11 Upstate Eight Valley win. Elizabeth Vedrine added 5 kills and 3 digs for the Stormm Angie Negron had 6 kills and Casie Swanson 10 assists.

McHenry d. Hampshire: Maggie Seagren had 5 kills and 12 digs and Lucy Magnussen added 4 kills and 2 blocks for Hampshire in a 25-13, 25-23 FVC loss. Sophie Holts had 8 assists for the Whip-Purs (5-9, 1-7).

West Aurora d. Batavia: Jenna Garrett (13 assists, 6 digs, 1 ace), Hannah Yaconis (7 kills) and Maddy Boyer and Sam Juarez (10 digs each) led Batavia (9-8) in a 25-21, 25-23 UEC crossover loss.

Burlington Central d. Richmond-Burton: Madison Leone (9 kills, 16 digs, 2 aces), Maddie Lenschow (6 kills, 1 block, 4 digs) and Gabby Soto (6 kills, 12 assists, 7 digs) led BC (8-5, 5-0) to a 25-15, 23-25, 25-16 Kishwaukee River win. Also contributing for the winning Rockets were Brittany Parks (5 kills, 6 assists, 11 digs, 2 blocks, 1 ace), Kathryn Schmidt (4 kills, 1 block, 4 digs), Katie Lomas (18 digs, 3 assists) and Madison Williams (5 digs).
