Boys soccer: Kaneland wins tournament in Wisconsin

Kaneland's boys soccer team won the weekend Milton (Wis.) tournament, moving to 9-3-1 for the season.

The Knights won the championship match over Oshkosh 1-0 in overtime on John MaCaffrey's goal. Zach Smith provided the assist on the game-winning goal.

Kaneland also defeated Janesville Parker 6-0 and host Milton 3-2.

On the day, Tucker Jahns stood out with 5 goals while Brian Bartholomew totaled 2 goals and McCaffrey notched 1 goal and 2 assists. Smith and Garcia also tallied goals while Gavin Cano (2 total), Allen Dominguez and Alex Dhom added assists.

At Hononegah: Dundee-Crown and Jacobs advanced to the championship game of the Indian Cup Tournament at Hononegah and by mutual agreement, their Oct. 10 Fox Valley Conference clash will also determine the tournament title.

On Saturday, D-C (9-0-2) defeated Springfield 2-0 and DeKalb 2-1. Julian Ajroja and Ivan Juanchi had the goals for the Chargers against Springfield with Mario Solano and Gerardo Estrada providing the assists. Damian Smiech made 6 saves in goal. Arnol Batres and Jason Miller scored against DeKalb with Ajroja and Juanchi getting the assists. Smiech had 4 saves in the net.

Morton 4, Streamwood 3: To end the PepsiCo tournament, the Sabres (8-4) were knocked off by the Potters despite Oscar Chavez's 1 goal, 1 assist performance. Alex Chavez and Aldo Lazaro provided goals while Bryan Mora added 1 assist.

Elgin 2, Lakes 1: The Maroons bounced back from card-filled loss against East Aurora and Omar Lopez was back to his scoring ways, netting goals in each half during a nonconference win at Memorial Field. Pablo Perez and Isaac Monroy added assists for Elgin (8-1-2), who saw goalkeeper Martin Jimenez make 9 saves.

Westminster splits: Westminster Christian defeated Walther Christian 8-0 but lost to Cristo Rey 7-1. Will Kmeciak scored 5 goals and had 2 assists in the win over Walther. Lee Graseman (2 assists), Jacob Guge (1 assist) and Will DeHaan (1 assist) each scored single goals and Ben Versluys had 2 assists. Against Crosto Rey, Kmeciak scored the Warriors' goal and Graseman had the assist.
