Girls volleyball: Kaneland continues to roll

On the heels of winning the Champaign Centennial tournament over the weekend, the Kaneland girls volleyball team defeated Rock Falls 25-14, 25-21 in a nonconference match Tuesday night.

Sheika Mushunduzi led the Knights (10-3) with 7 kills and 9 digs while Katie Jablonski added 5 kills, 6 digs and 2 aces. Also contributing were Lauren Steers (3 kills, 3 blocks), Shelby Hannula (10 assists), Sydney Fedderly (7 assists) and Julianna Vassallo (12 digs).

Batavia d. Elgin: Becca Robinson had 9 digs while Hannah Yaconis added 8 kills to lead Batavia to a 25-14, 25-7 Upstate Eight River win. Lauren Haefer had 3 aces and 3 kills for the Bulldogs (9-4, 1-0) and Jenna Garrett added 18 assists.

West Chicago d. South Elgin: Angie Negron had 8 kills with Casie Swanson adding 9 assists and 6 digs for South Elgin (3-4, 0-1) in a 25-22, 25-17 UEC Valley loss.

Prairie Ridge d. Dundee-Crown: Irene Martin (6 kills), Jenna Thelen (5 kills), Jenna Brown (7 assists), Claire Muhvic (7 assists, 6 digs), Zoe Sitarz (13 digs) and Carolyn Ptaszek (7 digs) were the leaders for Dundee-Crown (1-4, 1-4) in a 25-20, 25-8 Fox Valley Conference loss.

CL South d. Jacobs: Aurora Nero had 8 kills to lead Crystal Lake South (2-2, 2-2) to a 25-17, 25-15 FVC win. Also contributing for the Gators were Raquel Hess and Megan House with 3 kills each, Jamie Maule with 6 digs and Kleja Cerniauskaite and Yianna Kirimis with 3 blocks each.

Huntley d. Cary-Grove: Also in the FVC, Taylor Jakubowski had 17 digs, 38 assists and 5 kills to lead the Red Raiders to an 18-25, 28-26, 25-17 win.
