Boys soccer: Rasmussen's offense lifts Libertyville

Evan Rasmussen notched a second-half hat trick, and that was enough to lift Libertyville's boys soccer team to a 3-1 win over Lyons Township on Tuesday.

Riley Hoff, Will Powers and Tanner Kelly had assists for the Wildcats, and keeper Thomas Pearson made 6 saves.

Grayslake North 2, Cary-Grove 1: At Grant, the Knights prevailed in a shootout, converting 4 penalty kicks to the Trojans' two.

"This afternoon was a good step in the right direction for us," Knights coach Adam DeCaluwe said. "After a couple games where we thought we showed signs of coming together but paid the price on every mistake we made, today was all around a game to build upon. The boys really showed discipline behind the ball and a desire to put Cary-Grove under as much pressure as they could create and turn any turnovers into goal-scoring chances."

Grayslake North broke a scoreless tie with 25 minutes gone in the second half, when junior Jack Moran earned a penalty kick that senior Ronaldo Rojas converted.

But Cary-Grove notched the tying goal with just over two minutes to go in the game.

"Unfortunately, with little experience in close games, with a lead, we took our foot off the gas," DeCaluwe said. "We allowed Cary-Grove to start to build some momentum and belief."

In the PKs, Grayslake North senior keeper Noel Gonzalez made a save on C-G's fourth kicker to give the Knights the win. Junior Angel Uriostegui, sophomore Logan Holevas, senior Ronaldo Rojas and junior Luca Angelillo tallied for Grayslake North.

Lake Forest 1, Deerfield 0: Kean O'Connor scored in the first half, and Scouts keeper John Walsh made 5 saves in earning the shutout for the Scouts (3-2).
