Girls volleyball: Balanced approach leads to a Carmel victory
Carmel Catholic's girls volleyball team got a 25-16, 25-13 sweep of Glenbrook North on Monday with balanced play in their nonconference matchup.
"Our ball control was on point tonight," Carmel coach David Pazely said. "And our setters did a great job keeping our offense balanced."
Erin Taylor and Alyssa Donton had 5 kills each while Abby Aden and Kaitlyn Czarnetzki each had 4 kills for the Corsairs.
Donton and Patti Needham did the majority of the setting and rolled up 10 and 9 assists respectively.
Eileen Tarcha led the defense with 12 digs.
Carmel is now 2-1 on the season.
"We kept (Glenbrook North) off balance and out of system with aggressive serving, which set the tone from the beginning," said Pazely, whose team tallied 10 aces.
Mundelein d. Conant: Mundelein got its second win of the season with a 25-14, 25-19 sweep of Conant.
The Mustangs (2-6) got 6 kills from Alexis Naddy and and 4 kills from Taylor Heath. Heath also finished with 3 blocks.
Isabella Cartland rolled up 16 digs and setters Claudia Wilcox and Faith Krabbe had 6 assists apiece.
Wauconda d. Rolling Meadows: Wauconda rebounded from a first-set loss to get a victory over Rolling Meadows, 23-25, 25-16, 25-18.
Zoe Tumbull and Carlie Krachtus each had 7 kills for Wauconda while Savanah Johnson added 6 kills.
Jane Sakowicz led the defense with 21 digs and setter Summer Olsen finished with 14 assists.
