Girls volleyball: St. Viator wins twice at Wheaton North

St. Viator's girls volleyball team bounced back from a tough three-set loss to Hersey in Monday's season opener and won its first two matches of the Wheaton North tourney on Wednesday.

The Lions (2-1) defeated Yorkville 25-20, 23-25, 25-17 and Glenbard West 16-25, 25-23, 25-22.

Also at Wheaton North, Kaneland topped Buffalo Grove 23-25, 28-26, 25-18 and Naperville North defeated the Bison 25-16, 25-19.

BG junior Claire Ferriss had 6 kills against Naperville North while teammates Abigail Kim and Lauren Horvath had 2 apiece. Setter Maggie Streckert handed out 15 assists.

Streamwood d. Leyden: The Sabres topped the Eagles 20-25, 21-25 in the nonconference match. Leading Leyden was junior outside hitter Destiny Corral, who had 8 kill and 3 aces.
