Ruchim in place to lead Stevenson softball

Stevenson has named 2005 alumnus Heather Ruchim as its new head softball coach. Ruchim replaces Perry Wilhelm, who stepped down after one season at the helm.

Ruchim has served on the Patriots' coaching staff since 2014. While a student-athlete at Stevenson, Ruchim was a four-year member of the varsity softball team. She was a three-time all-conference and all-area player, and in 2005 was selected by her teammates as most valuable player. Stevenson won 92 games in Ruchim's four varsity seasons, capturing three regional championships and a sectional title.

"In my time working with coach Ruchim, I have admired her thoughtfulness and genuine caring for everyone she comes in contact with," Stevenson athletic director Trish Betthauser said. "Her knowledge and appreciation for the game are impressive, as is her willingness to work collaboratively with her staff and other fellow coaches."
