Vargas pitches fantastic start, but Cougars fall in extra innings

Despite one of the more lockdown starts of the season from righty Emilio Vargas, the Kane County Cougars' four-game win streak was snapped by the visiting Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in a 1-0 final in 10 innings. In the top of the 10th, the Timber Rattlers strung together 3 hits with 2 outs to tally the go-ahead run on an RBI by lead-off man, Ryan Aguilar. The game had no score for all of the nine innings because of the dominant starting pitching. In his longest start of the season, Vargas picked up the no-decision but lasted 7 shutout innings. Vargas also only allowed 4 hits with 8 strikeouts and just 1 free pass.
