Baseball: Moe, Grayslake Central edge Antioch in 8

Coby Moe drove in the game-winning run in the top of the eighth inning, and Grayslake Central's baseball team edged fourth-seeded Antioch 4-3 in the Class 3A Grayslake Central regional final Saturday.

No. 5 Grayslake Central, which lost all three games to Antioch during Northern Lake County Conference action, advances to the Lake View sectional semifinals. The Rams will play top-seeded Lakes at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kerry Wood Field in Chicago.

Moe also pitched 6 innings in relief to get the win, allowing only 2 runs.

Lakes 4, Wauconda 1: At Ridgewood, the top-seeded Eagles scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 1-0 deficit and added 2 more runs in the sixth to win the Class 3A regional final.

Jack Christensen went the distance on the mound, allowing just 5 hits, as Lakes advanced to Thursday's Lake View sectional semifinals. The Eagles will face No. 5 Grayslake Central at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Kerry Wood Field in Chicago.

Stephen Mogged, Brandon Khan (double) and Jason Volpe (double) each had 2 hits in the win. Simon Varitek doubled and drove in 2 runs.

Jacob Bicknase and Tyler Husko both went 2-for-3 for No. 9 Wauconda.

Libertyville 10, Highland Park 3: At Highland Park, the second-seeded Wildcats won the Class 4A regional final, eliminating the 10 seed.

Libertyville will play No. 3 Mundelein in Thursday's 4:30 p.m. sectional semifinal at Glenbrook South.

Crystal Lake South 8, Grant 3: At Cary-Grove, the top-seeded Gators won the Class 4A regional final to advance to the McHenry sectional.

Crystal Lake South will play DeKalb at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Petersen Park.

No. 6 Grant finished 19-14.
