Softball: Bartlett, St. Charles East win regional semis
Janelle Ulaszek drove in Amber Pagan with the game-winning run with 2 outs in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday as Bartlett defeated Prospect 6-5 in the semifinals of the Class 4A Elk Grove softball regional.
Pagan had singled and moved to second on a walk to Dani Kleeman to set up Ulaszek's game-winning hit. Ulaszek went 3-for-5 on the day and had 2 RBI. She also pitched the first 7 innings and had 7 strikeouts.
Taylor Rotondo's home run in the bottom of the seventh tied the game for Bartlett. Elyse Hickey added a home run for the Hawks.
Pagan, who as 3-for-4 with two doubles, was the winning pitcher.
The Hawks (24-11-1) will play Elk Grove at 11 a.m. Saturday for the regional championship.
St. Charles East 12, Addison Trail 0: Delaney Devor allowed just 1 hit with 4 strikeouts and 2 walks as the Saints (27-7) won this Class 4A Lake Park regional semifinal. Paige Ligocki (3 hits, 4 RBI) and Rylee Stout each hit home runs for SCE while Jordan Hieber had 3 hits with a double and 3 RBI, Sara Campagna 2 hits with a double and Hannah Cozzi 2 hits and an RBI. The top-seeded Saints will take on the winner of Friday's semifinal between No. 8 Lake Park and No. 9 Schaumburg in Saturday's regional final.
