Softball: Aurora Central's Brown tosses no-hitter; Burlington C. wins ICCP tourney

Danielle Brown threw a no-hitter for Aurora Central Catholic on Saturday in a 2-0 win over Chicago Christian at the IC Catholic Prep tournament.

Brown struck out 10 and walked one. She and Jessica King drove in the runs for the Chargers (11-12), who also defeated Hinsdale South 11-1. Brown doubled twice and drove in 2 against the Hornets, and Isabell Gonzalez was 4-for-4 with 2 RBI.

At the same tournament, Burlington Central (15-7) defeated Sterling 12-3, then recorded a forfeit victory over Morrison in the championship game. Julia Barnes allowed 4 hits while striking out two against Sterling, improving to 12-5. Kristina Ahlers went 2-for-4.

Barrington Tournament: Batavia won twice, defeating Somonauk 10-7 and Manteno 12-7. Rachael Lovestrand earned the win against Somonauk, supported by Toni Galas (2-for-5), Jaelen Lisberg (HR, 3 RBI), Allison Bahlmann (2-4, RBI) and Jessica Kleist (1-4, 2 RBI).

In the second game, Kaylan Waldron earned the win with 4 innings of relief work, striking out three. Lisberg homered again and drove in 4, Galas was 2-for-3, Waldron and Bahlmann both had 2 hits, Sara Wheat drove in 3 runs and Molly Costigan knocked in 2.

Bartlett 8, Lake Park 4: The Hawks rallied with 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth for the win. Charlotte Linnartz, Elyse Hickey and Taylor Rotondo all homered for the Hawks against Brianna Pisauro. Amber Pagan doubled twice and was the winning pitcher.

St. Charles North splits: The North Stars (14-8) split a doubleheader with Sandburg, winning 6-5 and losing 9-1. In the win, Allison Moberg hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 6-4 lead. She finished 2-for-3 with 5 RBI. Natalie Walters went 3-for-3, and Jordyn Wolfe, Jillian Waslawski and Aislen Kelly all had 2 hits. Walters was the winning pitcher, allowing just 2 earned runs and 6 hits with 4 strikeouts.

Fenton tournament: Cary-Grove (8-17) split two games, beating Willowbrook 10-0 in 5 innings and losing 3-1 to Ridgewood. Against Willowbrook, the Trojans scored 5 times in the first inning. Taylor Langguth was the winning pitcher, walking nobody, allowing 3 hits and recording 3 strikeouts. Alyssa Gurgone led the offense going 3-for-3 with 3 RBI.

At the same tournament, St. Edward (13-17) defeated Maine East 4-3 and lost to Taft by the same score. Emily Stapay got the win, giving up just 1 earned run and no walks while striking out eight. Ashley Miller went 3-for-3 with 2 RBI, and Jessy Kramp was 2-for-3 with a home run and 2 RBI.

Lakes 9, Jacobs 8: Seven errors proved costly for the Golden Eagles (13-10-1) who were led by Hayley Masching (3-4, 2 RBI), Jess Mrzlak (3-4), Hannah Slocum (2-5) and Alexis Addante (1-3, 2 RBI). Maya Fridae and Grace O'Malley also had RBI.

Huntley 4, Lane Tech 0: The Red Raiders improved to 24-6 behind winning pitcher Tiffany Giese (22-5) who allowed just 1 hit with 8 strikeouts. Sofia Tenuta and Autumn Kasal each doubled and had 2 hits.
