Baseball: Davison's 2-hitter leads Geneva past Glenbard East
Noah Davison fired a 2-hitter with 12 strikeouts and 1 walk Friday as Geneva defeated Glenbard East 2-0 in an Upstate Eight Conference baseball game.
Jeremy Davis had 2 hits and drove in both runs for the Vikings (18-9, 16-7) while Josh Rose added 2 hits. Dylan Baer and Sean Sinisko each doubled for Geneva.
West Aurora 11, Bartlett 1: Connor Palmby had 2 doubles and an RBI while Cam Zimmerman (3 RBI), Aric Johnson and Jacob Pavey (2 RBI) each added 2 hits for West Aurora (8-19, 7-12) in this UEC Valley game. Josh Adam also drove in 2 runs for the Blackhawks. Jacob Gray picked up the win on the mound, allowing 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks. David Jaske had 2 hits for Bartlett (14-12, 9-8).
Streamwood 16, Batavia 5: Jesse Rico (4 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Adam Sojda (3 hits, RBI) and Dominic Robles (3 hits, 2B, 4 RBI) had the big bats for Streamwood (12-13, 8-11) in its UEC River win. Jose Aguilar (2 RBI) and Ryan Fitzgerald (2B, 2 RBI) added 2 hits each for the Sabres. Quinn O'Brien (2 doubles), Jared Martin (2B, RBI), Tyler Munoz (2 hits, 2B, 3 RBI) and Jake Robinson (2B) led Batavia (7-14, 4-11).
Huntley 3, McHenry 0: Adam Smylie went 5 innings and allowed just 3 hits and Noah Konie picked up the save as Huntley (24-5, 16-3) won in the Fox Valley Conference. Brad Model had 2 hits with a double and an RBI for the Red Raiders and Tyler Koss added 2 hits.
Johnsburg 2, Burlington Central 0: David Lauber and Ryan Knowlton had the only hits for Burlington Central (21-7, 10-4) in its Kishwaukee River loss.
Jacobs 6, DeKalb 1: Nolan Johnson scattered 6 hits with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk as Jacobs (15-15) prevailed in this nonconference game. Bryce Vincent had 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI for the Golden Eagles.
Sycamore 6, Hampshire 5: Matthew Wians had a double for Hampshire (8-21-1) in its nonconference loss.
Aurora Christian 4, ACC 1: At the Hinckley-Big Rock tournament, winning pitcher Tanner Dissell (5 H, 2 Ks, 0 BB) had 2 hits including a double, MJ Stavola had a 2-run home run and Clark Turek added a double and an RBI to lead Aurora Christian (18-8) to the win. Michael Bieterman had a home run while Johnny Belskis and Patrick Flanagan added 2 hits each for Aurora Central (19-8-1).
Harvest Christian sweeps: Zack Pawelek and Joey Pepper combined on a 1-hitter in Game 1 to lead Harvest to a 6-0 Northeastern Athletic Conference win over Schaumburg Christian. The Lions (24-5, 13-2) then completed the sweep with a 29-8 win in Game 2. In the opener, Dayne Frederick had 3 hits with a double for Harvest, Drew Lewis added 2 hits with an RBI, Pepper drove in 2 runs and Pawelek had 2 hits. In the second game Dayne Frederick had a double and 5 RBI, Drew Lewis added a double and 2 RBI and Brock Wilken had a triple and 2 RBI for the Lions.
Elgin Academy 11, Chicago Waldorf 1: Ethan Hill had 2 hits with a double and an RBI, Kevin Kuykendall had a double and an RBI, Andrew Wilson a double and an RBI and Ben Bohenick 2 RBI for the Hilltoppers (20-4) in their nonconference win. Justin King was the winning pitcher.
