Baseball: Warren's comeback sinks Zion-Benton

Robert Archbold homered and drove in 2 runs, and Warren's baseball team rallied from a 5-0 deficit to beat Zion-Benton 7-5 in North Suburban Conference action Wednesday.

Warren (22-8, 13-5) scored 3 runs in the botton of the fourth and took the lead with a 4-run fifth. Vic Perez was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI for the Blue Devils, and Sam Deluca finished 1-for-3 with 2 RBI. Besides Archbold, Ricky Lee (double) and Evan Hill (triple) also had extra-base hits for Warren.

Pasquale DeFilippis threw 3 scoreless innings of 1-hit ball in relief and earned the win.

The victory was Warren's seventh in a row in NSC play.

Grayslake North 5, Round Lake 0: Trajan Castro threw a 5-inning 1-hitter, as the Knights took over sole possesion of first place in the Northern Lake County Conference by a half game over Grant.

Sebastian Sancen (double, RBI) and Austin DeLao (2 RBI) were both 2-for-3 for Grayslake North (10-4 NLCC).

Lucas Hollingsworth had the lone hit for Round Lake (0-14 NLCC).

Stevenson 12, Waukegan 0: On Tuesday, Michael Thon, Michael Sobel and Michael D'Angelo combined to throw a 4-hit shutout on the road for the Patriots (15-11, 9-7) in North Suburban action.

Thon started and pitched the first 3 innings, giving up 3 hits and striking out three. Sobel followed with 2 innings of hitless relief, and D'Angelo tossed the final frame. Offensively, Scotty Max and Shane McGaha each had two 2 and drove in two runs. Jack Housinger walked four times, stole four bases and scored four runs. Henry Marchese also had 2 hits and scored a pair of runs.
