Boys volleyball: Lakes stays perfect in NLCC

The Lakes boys volleyball won with a sweep against Grayslake North in Northern Lake County Conference action, 26-24, 25-22, on Thursday.

Jacob Deener led Lakes with 8 kills while setter Eric Jones had 20 assists.

Lakes is now 19-10 overall and 9-0 in the NLCC.

For Grayslake North, Brandon Lebaron had 5 kills and 5 digs.

Cole Pelegrino had 3 kills, 3 blocks and 10 digs while Austin Martineau added 2 kills and 8 digs.

Bryan Melgoza led the Knights with 15 digs while setter Nick Anello finished with 15 assists.

Grayslake North is now 9-15 on the season and 4-5 in the NLCC.

Glenbrook North d. Vernon Hills: Glenbrook North rolled to a sweep, 25-16, 25-11.

For Vernon Hills, Jake Adkisson and John Otoo each had 5 kills while Derrick Jones had 4 kills.

Setter Jake Fianto had 11 assists.

Carmel d. Marian Catholic: Carmel got a 25-21, 25-17 sweep in East Suburban Catholic Conference action.

The Corairs are now 17-5 overall and 3-1 in the league.

Jack Ptasienski led Carmel with 7 kills while setter Jack Herron had 20 assists and 8 digs.

Stevenson d. Grant: Stevenson moved to 19-8 on the season with a 25-16, 25-12 sweep of Grant.

Grant Maleski led Stevenson with 8 kills while Leo Chen added 7 kills.

Setters Will Sorenson and Haddon Kay had 10 and 7 assists respectively while Danny Orlov had a team-high 5 digs.

Mundelein d. Grayslake Central: Linden Ewing had 13 kills to lead Mundelein to a 25-12, 25-17 sweep.

Mitchell Zaprzalka rolled up 13 digs and setter Steven Miritello had 17 assists.
