Softball: Barnes, Burlington Central roll to KRC win

Winning pitcher Julia Barnes had a double and a home run as Burlington Central's softball team defeated Woodstock North 13-5 in a Kishwaukee River Conference game.

Barnes (9-4) threw a complete game, allowing 5 hits with 6 strikeouts and 4 walks for the Rockets (10-6, 7-1), who travel to Marengo Thursday with a share of first place in the KRC on the line.

Also contributing to the BC offense Tuesday were Kristina Ahlers (2 hits, 3B), Gretchen Schrubbe (2 hits, HR), Danielle Yurgil (2 hits, HR), Reili Gardner (2 hits) and Delyla Mroz-Reach (3 hits).

West Aurora 11, Glenbard East 0: Hannah Beatus went 4 innings and didn't allow a hit while striking out 10 and walking 1 as West Aurora (22-4, 11-0) rolled to this Upstate Eight Valley win. Beatus (3 RBI) and Grace Hunger (2 RBI) each hit home runs for the Blackhawks while Gabi Nilles had 3 hits and an RBI. Sophia Delgado added 2 hits with a double and 2 RBI and Payton Lundberg had a double and an RBI.

Geneva 17, Elgin 2: Molly Wrenn had a home run and a double as Geneva (19-2, 10-0) rolled to its 18th straight win in this UEC River game. Annika Radabaugh, Alyssa Kramer and Ali Dierks had doubles for the Vikings and Sam Keller tripled. Dierks picked up the win in the circle, allowing 3 hits.

Dundee-Crown 6, CL South 2: Sydney Ruggles scattered 7 hits with 9 strikeouts and 2 walks to lead D-C (13-9, 5-6) to this Fox Valley Conference win. Hannah Gestrich (2 hits, 2B, 2 RBI), Deanna Origer (2 hits) and Megan Emerson (2B) led the Chargers' offense.
