Baseball: St. Charles East handles West Aurora

Drew Conn fired a complete game 4-hitter Saturday as St. Charles East defeated West Aurora 8-1 in Upstate Eight Conference baseball action in Aurora.

Conn struck out 3 and didn't walk a batter as the Saints moved to 16-5 overall and 11-2 in the UEC.

Steve Abruzzo, who had a double, and Niko Klebosits (RBI) led the offense for SCE with 3 hits each, while John Carroll added 2 hits with a double and an RBI and Thomas Adams had 2 hits. John Dellostritto and Clay Conn drove in 2 runs each and Cole Conn had an RBI for the Saints.

Charlie Griswold had an RBI for West Aurora (4-16, 4-9).

St. Charles North 8, West Chicago 1: Anthony Delisi (RBI) and Sam Faith (2 RBI) had 2 hits each to lead the North Stars (18-2, 13-1) to an Upstate Eight win. Sean Nemetz drove in 2 runs for SCN while Justin Dunne and Steve Hamer each had RBI. Ryan Litavecz, the first of four North Star pitchers in the game, was credited with the win.

Bartlett 6, Larkin 1: Alex Rodriguez had 3 hits with an RBI as Bartlett (10-9, 5-5) won this UEC game. Eric Johansen and Andrew Fehr each doubled for the Hawks. Joey Tomazin went 4⅔ innings and allowed just 2 hits to earn the win. Gunnar Boley had an RBI for Larkin (9-13, 5-11).

Geneva 10, East Aurora 3: Josh Rose had 2 hits with a double and 3 RBI to lead Geneva (13-7, 11-4) to a UEC win. Also contributing for the Vikings were Ian Hanson (2B, 2 RBI), Dominic Guido (2 hits), Jack Olson (2 hits, 2B, RBI), Garrett Bragg (2 hits), Noah Davison (RBI) and Nathan Dewey (RBI). Brad Bowman pitched the middle three innings and allowed 1 hit to earn the win.

Dundee-Crown 11, Prairie Ridge 0: Erik Hedmark fired a 3-hitter with 9 strikeouts and no walks as Dundee-Crown (9-10, 6-9) won in the Fox Valley Conference. Leading the Chargers' offensively were Jonathan Mays (2 hits, 2B, 4 RBI), Scott Wojcik (2B, 2 RBI), Hedmark (2 hits, RBI), Conor Ryan (RBI) and Sean Jay (2 hits, RBI).

Elgin 3, Hoffman Estates 0: Kyle Coates allowed 6 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 walks to lead Elgin (4-15) to a nonconference win. Jack Sitter had 2 hits and 3 RBI for the Maroons.

Burlington Central 13, Belvidere North 3: Clay Milas (2B, RBI), Josh Noeska, Ryan Knowlton (RBI) and Paddy McKermitt (2B, RBI) had 2 hits each for the Rockets (17-3) in their nonconference win. Caden Scott added a double and 2 RBI for BC. Milas picked up the win, allowing 6 hits with 3 strikeouts and 2 walks in 6 innings.

Providence 9, Marmion 3: Collin Gibson had 2 hits and Bobby Pierce added a double and an RBI for Marmion (13-9, 9-4) in its Chicago Catholic League loss.

Elgin Academy 6, Whitney Young 1: Ethan Hill drove in 2 runs and Kevin Kuykendall had a double for Elgin Academy (14-3) in nonconference action. Justin King allowed 3 hits with 4 strikeouts and no walks to earn the win.

Luther North 6, Aurora Christian 3: Sam Tickel (2B, RBI) and Ethan Stoneberg (2B, RBI) had 2 hits each for Aurora Christian (12-7, 9-2) in this Northeastern Athletic Conference loss. Eric Hernandez added a double for the Eagles.
