Baseball: Lothery, Pardini propel Meadows past Fremd

The No. 4 and 5 hitters did most of the damage as visiting Rolling Meadows topped Fremd 7-2 in Mid-Suburban League baseball Friday.

In the No. 4 slot, Matt Lothery went 2-for-4 with a double.

Right behind him in the order, Nate Pardini finished 3-for-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Winning pitcher Ryan Lane went all 7 innings and allowed 3 hits and 4 walks with 3 strikeouts. He also drove in 2 runs for the Mustangs (4-14, 2-7).

Luke Seidel had a double for Fremd (9-11, 4-5), which committed 4 errors.

Elk Grove 8, Schaumburg 6 (9 inn.): The hosts Saxons trailed 5-2 after the top half of the fifth before steadily battling back to force extra innings by tying it in the bottom of the seventh with a single run.

Joe Lopez pitched 2 scoreless relief innings to get the win for Elk Grove (8-11, 4-5), which scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch.

Lopez (2-for-4, 2 RBI), Xander Rojahn (2-for-4), AJ Navarro and Ryne Singsank each had double for the Grenadiers, who have won four straight conference games.

The big hits for Schaumburg (5-15, 0-9) were a double by Tyler Fredrickson in the fourth, a double by Tommy Larsen in the fifth, a home run by Jakob Kolodziej in the sixth and an RBI single by Justin Schoefernacker in the seventh.

Nick Calip, Jack Lancaster and Schoefernacker also doubled as the Saxons produced 9 hits.

Hoffman Estates 8, Wheeling 5: Nick Grybos had a big day at the plate for the host Hawks, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and 3 RBI.

Dylan Bloom doubled and drove in 2 runs for Hoffman Estates (5-10, 4-5), and Jim Kliver (triple) and Jon Keller (double) also had extra-base hits.

Winning pitcher Zach Uchiek allowed 8 hits in 6 innings and struck out eight.

Brian Maloney finished 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI for Wheeling (9-11, 5-4), which had 9 hits but committed 3 errors.

Buffalo Grove 8, Palatine 0: The visiting Bison got going early, scoring 6 runs in the second inning.

That was more than enough for Jack Vaselaney, who allowed 4 hits with 1 walk and 2 strikeouts in a complete-game shutout that took just 72 pitches as the Bison played error-free defense.

Chase Marsh, Mac Camardo and Aidan Dolan had doubles and John Carpinelli tripled for Buffalo Grove (16-1-1, 8-1), which remains tied with Prospect for the MSL East lead.

Riley Rundquist, Mike Gran and Marsh each had 2 hits for BG.

Leading hitters for Palatine (12-9, 6-3) were J.T. Streepy (2-for-3) and Josh Stitt (double).

Prospect 5, Conant 3: Ryan Roggeman had 2-run double in the fourth inning and Richie Baczek had a run-scoring single in the fifth as the visiting Knights battled back from an early deficit for another MSL win.

Mason Sykes drove in 2 runs for Conant, which had a 2-0 lead after the first inning.

Ryan Howe (6 IP, 5H, 2K) got the win for Prospect (11-8, 8-1), and Frankie Mack got the last three outs.

Sykes finished with 2 hits and Sam Ryan had a double for Conant (6-14, 2-7).

Barrington 11, Hersey 3: The visiting Huskies were able to tie it at 2-2 after the top of the fifth, but the Broncos regained the lead with a run in the bottom half and won going away after plating 8 runs in the sixth.

Will Yorton hit a solo homer for MSL West-leading Barrington (19-5, 9-0) and finished 3-for-3 at the plate.

Other big hitters included Tyler Trojan (2-for-5, 2 RBI), Tyler Acosta (3-for-4), Eric Kozlowski (2-for-4, double) and Jeff Korus (2-for-2, 2 runs).

In 5 innings, winning pitcher Yorton allowed 4 hits and struck out eight; Ricky Alveoli got the final six outs.

Alberto Garcia drove in 2 runs for Hersey (6-12-1, 2-7).

Leyden 2, Willowbrook 1: The host Eagles picked up a quality West Suburban Gold win as the go-ahead run scored on a error in the sixth inning.

Kevin Nevarez and Nico Sanchez had doubles for Leyden (11-4), and Josh Cubon (2-for-4) drove in 1 run.

That was just enough offense for Nevarez on the mound. He struck out four and allowed 4 hits and 1 unearned run in getting a complete-game win.
