Girls soccer: St. Charles North edges rival St. Charles East

St. Charles North's Claudia Najera scored on Hailey Rydberg's pass in the 55th minute for a big 1-0 win over rival St. Charles East (8-2-3, 3-1) in Upstate Eight River action. Sami Sample made 4 saves for the North Stars (10-0-1-3-0).

West Aurora 5, East Aurora 0: Fresh off their PepsiCo championship wins, the Blackhawks (15-1, 3-0) continued to roll winning their 15th consecutive game over the Tomcats (5-11, 0-4) in an Upstate Eight Valley win. Audrey Stephens tallied 2 goals while Riley O'Brien, Katharine Stephens and Anahi Toscano added goals. Keepers Bailey Ziman (3 saves) and Hannah Gove (2 saves) teamed up for the shutout.

Bartlett 2, South Elgin 1: The Hawks (8-6-1, 2-0-1) grabbed a big UEC Valley win over rival South Elgin with 2 goals in the first half by Carrigan Sablik and Tabitha Evans. Jenna Dombrowski and Paige Bednarke added assists while keepers Nykia Wetterman (3 saves) and Teagan Noesen (4 saves) shared time in net.

Elgin 4, Streamwood 1: In Upstate Eight River action, Sofia Mari's 2 goals helped the Maroons (7-6-3, 1-3) to a win over the Sabres. Emily Graves and Guadalupe Sanchez had a pair of unassisted goals and Brittany Dazzo provided 2 assists. Keeper Hannah Erickson made 10 saves in net. Kaila Ford managed Streamwood's only goal on Ariana Alfaro's assist.

CL South 4, Jacobs 1: Courtney Sengstock collected 2 goals while Jess Schonefeldt added 1 goal and 1 assist in a Fox Valley Conference win for the Gators (11-1-1, 2-0). Emily Warren also scored for CLS, Abigail Wiegand had an assist and Annika Sevcik made 6 saves.

Cary-Grove 1, Huntley 0: The Trojans (8-2, 4-1) received a second half goal from Maddie Jannusch off an assist from Teagan Jones for a FVC win over the Red Raiders.

Burlington Central 8, Woodstock 0: The Rockets (13-2-1, 8-0) bulldozed the Blue Streaks in Kishwaukee River action thanks to Megan Majewski, who had 3 goals and 1 assist and Anna McMahon's 2-goal, 3-assist night. Elizabeth Gousios poured in 2 goals, Zoey Kollhoff had 1 goal, 1 assist and both Jordan King and McKenzie Freeman each had an assist. Erin Rafferty (5 saves) and Abbi Ciganek (1 save) split time in net for the shutout.

Kaneland 8, LaSalle-Peru 0: In Northern Illinois Big XII East action, the Knigths (8-5, 1-2) watched Abbie Lomahan go wild with 3 goals and 2 assists. Lindsay Penkala dished 1 goal and 1 assist while Paige Guyton, Gabrielle Falletto, Bailey Prichard, Sophie Ottoson also scored goals. Taylor Zitkus, Oliva Lutter and Willow Dunne each posted 1 assist.

Harvest Christian 8, Christian Life 0: The Lions (5-5-3, 3-1) won this Northeastern Athletic bout with ease, as Sonja Jenkins mustered up a hat trick of goals. Anastasia Hermia notched 2 goals while Taylor Keeran and Hannah Caldwell each had 1 goal and 1 assist. Holley Colclasure had 1 goal while Jessica Olsen and Rebecca Gafrick each had 1 assist and in goal Isa Garcia had 2 saves.

Westminster Christian 7, Cornerstone 1: The Warriors (6-5) benefitted from Anna DeHaan's 2 goals in a nonconference win. Also scoring goals were Grace Bickford, Hannah Norden, Katrina Grasemann and Lexi Kuhlman while goalies Grace Bickford and Emily Lamp each made 2 saves.
