Libertyville d. Maine South: Libertyville moved to 18-1 on the season with a 25-22, 25-14 sweep of Maine South.

"One of our best games controlling touch over the net," Libertyville coach Jenny Smith said. "A great job by our defense and serve receivers especially Sam Kharasch, Ryan Winiger, Steve Donovan and Colin Hawkinson."

Jack Stevens led Libertyville with 14 kills, 3 aces and 2 blocks. Brendan Cook added 5 kills.

Kharasch led in digs with 11 and setter Ryan Hirschel had 21 assists.

Stevenson d. Vernon Hills: Stevenson narrowly survived a scrappy Vernon Hills team, getting a 22-25, 25-18, 24-26 victory.

Stevenson got 12 kills from Grant Maleski while Matt Cliffer added 6 kills and Hudson Havenhill had 5 kills.

Danny Orlow and Austin Zhou each had 5 digs for Stevenson while setters Haddon Kay and Will Sorenson had 12 and 10 assists respectively.

Stevenson is now 17-6 on the season.

Vernon Hills, meanwhile, is 6-11.

"On the one hand, it's getting really old losing all our matches by 2 points in the third set," Vernon Hills coach Chris Curry said. "On the other hand, our guys are really fighting, really doing everything they can on every point. At least we're in the matches. They work so hard, and we get just a little better every day, so I'm feeling pretty good that we'll start getting rewarded with wins soon. "

Sammy Adkisson gave Vernon Hills solid defense with 14 digs while Jake Adkisson led the offense with 10 kills

"We're close," Curry said. "And we just have to keep our eye on the goal, which is being ready to do damage in the state tournament when people aren't expecting much from us."
