Kaneland edges Yorkville again
Kaneland swept its season series with Yorkville - both by 1 run - this time 2-1 on Thursday in Yorkville.
The Knights (12-5-1) fell behind 1-0 in the first, tied the game in the third and won it in the seventh. Emilee Erickson pitched a complete game, allowing 3 hits, 3 walks and no earned runs while striking out eight.
Morgan Weber homered, Maddy Wheatley tripled and Hannah Theobald doubled to lead Kaneland's 9-hit attack.
St. Edward 10, Guerin 0: Jessy Kramp threw a 1-hitter, striking out 13.
Emily Stapay went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI. Jackie Boyston also drove in two runs while Lindsey Mauritzen had 2 hits. St. Edward improved to 6-10.
McHenry 1, Dundee-Crown 0: Sydney Ruggles was the hard-luck losing pitcher, allowing just 1 run, 4 hits and 3 walks while striking out six.
Hannah Gestrich had 2 of the Chargers' 4 hits. Dundee-Crown fell to 7-6.
Glenbard North 3, St. Charles North 2: The North Stars (5-5) lost their fifth straight - all hard-luck losses by a total of 7 runs - this time in 8 innings.
Maddie Webb took the loss despite striking out seven. Mary Webb went 2-for-3. Ashlyn Jozefowicz had the only RBI for St. Charles North.
Cary-Grove 7, Jacobs 1: Taylor Langguth pitched a complete game with 7 strikeouts, no walks and 5 hits.
Katy Wierczorek and Kelly Johnson both went 3-for-3 to lead the Trojans (2-8). Alexis Addante homered for the only run for Jacobs (7-5-1), and Hannah Slocum had a double.
Westminster Christian 4, IMSA 3: The Warriors scored three runs in the sixth for the win.
Kristen Mason pitched 7 innings with 10 strikeouts. Drew Randazzo, Rachel Schmitt, Grace Schmitt and Maggie Jezek all had 2 hits for Westminster (2-5-1).

CL South 10, CL Central 0: The Gators (9-5) won behind pitcher Chloe Skorija, who allowed 2 hits and 1 walk while striking out six.
