Softball: Sixth-inning surge helps Quenan, Libertyville past Lake Zurich

Franny Quenan drove in the tying and go-ahead runs to cap an 8-run sixth inning, and Libertyville's softball team rallied to beat visiting Lake Zurich 8-4 in North Suburban Conference action Tuesday.

Libertyville (13-2, 5-0) got 2 hits apiece from Kenzie Rother, Hannah Heraty, Lyndsey Lyon and Sarah Hoyer, who was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles. Heraty (11-2) went the distance in the circle.

Amanda Guercio hit her 10th and 11th home runs of the season for Lake Zurich (8-7, 4-2). Jessica Puccinelli also had 2 hits for the Bears.

Lakes 15, Antioch 6: The Eagles got 3 hits apiece from Rachel Becker (solo homer), Kelsey Ulrich and Karlie Rotunno in handing the Sequoits just their second loss of the season and first in Northern Lake County action.

Jill Foote homered twice and doubled for Antioch.

Kayla Foote earned the win, allowing 4 earned runs. She helped herself at the plate by going 2-for-5. Molly Dietz and Jen Reed also had a pair of hits for Lakes, which pounded out 17 hits.

Grant 19, Grayslake North 9: Erin Bengston hit a pair of home runs to center field and also tripled, finishing 3-for-3 with 7 RBI and 2 walks, as the Bulldogs won big in Northern Lake County action.

Megan Mitchell finished 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI for Grant, which also got a pair of hits each from Calista Warmowski and Sarah Gallivan. Eight starters had hits for the Bulldogs.

For the Knights, Grace Brown finished 2-for-3 with a double and 3 RBI. Jenna Pozezinski (2-for-4) and Becca Sosa (1-for-4) each had 2 RBI. Seven starters for the Knights had hits and 5 had 2 hits each.

Mundelein 7, Lake Forest 0: Breanna Adams pitched a complete-game 2-hitter, striking out four and walking two in the North Suburban game.

Kaitlyn Griffin went 3-for-4 to pace a 15-hit attack by the Mustangs (6-8, 4-1). Adams and Kira Buckner were both 2-for-4, and Elise Bernett finished 2-for-3. Adams, Jordyn West and Kendall Klatt all doubled in the win.

Wauconda 11, Round Lake 3: Sydney Williams singled and drove in 4 runs, and Taylor Lambert had a hit and 2 RBI, as the Bulldogs won in Northern Lake County action.

Wauconda (6-7, 3-1) also got a 2-for-2 effort from Alyssa McCarthy and a double from Kelly Weller.

Grayslake Central sweeps North Chicago: The Rams won by 15-0 finals in four innings twice.

Zoey Styczen earned the win in games, as Grayslake Central improved to 10-3 and 4-1 in the Northern Lake County.
