Softball: Batavia upsets St. Charles North
Batavia scored twice in the top of the sixth inning to come from behind and upset St. Charles North 4-3 in Upstate Eight Conference River Division action Tuesday.
Toni Galas led Batavia going 3-for-4. Katy David added 2 hits while Galas, Jena Bendoraitis and Allison Bahlmann all drove in runs.
Alena Theis picked up the win and Rachael Lovestrand scattered 4 hits over the final 2 innings for the save.
Ashlyn Jozefowicz, Grace Quinn and Jillian Waslawski all had 2 hits for St. Charles North (5-3, 1-2) who has now lost three straight games - two by 1 run and the other in 12 innings.
St. Edward 18, Timothy Christian 0: Jessy Kramp tossed a no-hitter for the Green Wave (4-10), striking out 13 and walking two.
Kramp also had 3 hits including a double and triple and drove in three runs. Emily Stapay scored three runs and drove in two for St. Edward, who capitalized on 12 walks and 7 errors.
Westminster Christian 11, IMSA 1: The Warriors (1-5-1) won their first game of the year behind Kristen Mason (6 IP, 12 strikeouts, 2-for-4), Sophia Hopkins (2-for-5, 2R), Drew Randazzo (3R) and Sarah Schmitt (2R, 1 RBI).
Huntley 13, Crystal Lake Central 0: Tiffany Giese improved to 8-3, striking out eight and walking none in four innings. She also had 2 hits at the plate and stole three bases.
Caitlin Brown and Sophia Tenula both had 3 hits and 2 doubles for Huntley (8-4, 4-0). Autumn Kasal, Jackie Dorin and Breanne Weiss all went 2-for-2; Kasal and Dorin both drove in three runs.
Geneva 12, Streamwood 2: The Vikings (11-2, 5-0) scored 3 runs in the first, third, fourth and fifth innings for the Upstate Eight Conference River win.
Emily Viebrock improved to 6-0. Katie Keller homered and doubled twice. Molly Wrenn and Alyssa Kramer also had doubles.
Rebecca Daley went 2-for-2 with 2 RBI for the Sabres (5-4).
West Aurora 10, Glenbard South 0: Payton Lundberg tossed a 1-hitter, striking out 13 in 5 innings without allowing a walk. She also doubled and drove in 2 runs.
Emma Boland led West Aurora's 13-hit attack going 3-for-3. Aislinn Strusz and Grace Hunger both went 2-for-3, and Hunger drove in two runs.
Burlington Central 6, Richmond Burton 3: Julia Barnes went 3-for-3 with a double and triple for the Rockets (6-6, 3-1). She also was the winning pitcher, going 7 innings with 4 strikeouts while allowing 5 hits and 1 walk.
Aurora Central Catholic 5, Fenton 1: The Chargers (5-6) got a gem from Danielle Brown, who fanned 13 while allowing 2 hits and no earned runs to pick up the Metro Suburban win.
Brown and Isabell Gonzalez both went 3-for-4. Val Litrenta and Alheia Valazquez had 2 hits, and Jessica Eallonardo drove in two runs.
Ottawa 7, Kaneland 2: The Knights (11-5-1) fell behind 3-0 in the first inning and never got going. Lexi Abruzzo had 2 hits, and she and Hailey Roach both doubled. Aly Jesionowski and Morgan Weber had the only RBI.
