Girls soccer: Jacobs rolls past Hampshire

Firing 36 shots on goal, Jacobs cruised to a 10-0 girls soccer victory over Hampshire in Fox Valley Conference action in Algonquin Tuesday night.

"I really like the way we came out fired up and ready to go," said Jacobs assistant coach Curt Dedic, subbing for head coach Stephanie Schuck who is on maternity leave. "Our intensity level was very high. We were really motivated and put the game away in the first 10 minutes. We really never let up in the game even with a big lead. It was a great effort by the girls. I like the way we are playing right now."

The Golden Eagles' (7-4, 2-0) offensive onslaught was paced by Heather Hoffmann who scored 2 goals with 3 assists.

"It was important for us to get off to a great start and we played with a great deal of confidence," said Hoffmann. "We are really practicing hard and that is showing in the games. We are improving every game."

Hoffman had plenty of offensive help as Baylee Vincent scored 3 goals and Dominique Anderson tallied 2 goals with an assist.

Cassie Kowalski, Liz Schwartz and Hannah Mohan each found the net once for the Eagles.

Jacobs didn't waste any time in taking control of the game as Anderson blasted a shot past Hampshire goalie Christine Abihudi off a perfect pass from Camille Buck with only 2 minutes and 35 seconds elapsed in the contest.

Hoffmann scored her first goal of the night, rifling a shot over the head of Abihudi from 50 yards out to give Jacobs a 2-0 advantage.

"The biggest thing to start the game was Jacobs had the mentality they were going to get after us," said Hampshire coach Colin Brice. "We didn't match their intensity. They scored some early goals and took control of the game. We had some chances in their zone and couldn't get a shot on goal."

The visiting Whip-Purs, who didn't register a shot on goal, received 25 saves from Abihudi in goal.

After scoring 2 early goals, the Golden Eagles scored 5 more times during the first 40 minutes. Vincent scored twice along with 1 goal each from Hoffmann, Anderson and Kowalski as the Golden Eagles built up a 7-0 cushion at intermission.

With 3 goals in the second half, Vincent completed her hat trick and Schwartz and Mohan each scored as Jacobs reached double digits in goals.
