    Bears GM seeks confidence, discipline in head coach

    Ryan Pace, the new general manager for the Chicago Bears, says he will have final say on all football decisions.

    Promising a commitment to hire the right head coach, a full evaluation of the current roster, and an emphasis on building through the draft, 37-year-old Ryan Pace outlined his rebuilding plan Friday as the new general manager of the Bears. Pace was introduced at the Halas Hall news conference by Bears CEO and president Ted Phillips, who said Pace “will oversee the entire football operation and will report directly to me.”

    You can look back at most of what’s gone wrong with the Bears over the last 25 years and point directly to failed draft classes. New GM Ryan Pace needs to draft well and draft well for several years to dig out of this massive hole, and he must be given the time and freedom necessary to make it work.
