    If the continued employment of Bears coaches’ or higher-ups was hanging in the balance going into the final game of the season, they didn’t get any help in a 13-9 loss to the Vikings. After struggling to score on its own, the Bears’ offense couldn’t even capitalize when it was given advantageous field position by special teams and the defense.

    Looking to bounce back after a dreadful 5-1 loss to Winnipeg before the Christmas break, the Blackhawks wanted to start fast Saturday night in Colorado. Call it a holiday hangover if you want, but that didn’t come close to happening. But not surprisingly, the Hawks came away with a victory.

    Jimmy Butler scored 33 points and the bench played well as the Bulls won their sixth straight, beating New Orleans 107-100 on Saturday at the United Center.

    Authorities question Cubs’ Castro after shooting

    Authorities in the Dominican Republic questioned Chicago Cubs shortstop Starlin Castro after a nightclub shooting Saturday morning in which several people were injured. Police spokesman Jacobo Mateo said Castro was one of six people initially detained and has been released. He said police searched Castro’s house and that the investigation is ongoing.
