Clough, 46, of South Elgin, appeared in Kane County bond court Tuesday on charges of arson, a felony, according to court records. Elgin police responded to a fire just before 10 p.m. April 28 at Advance Engineering Corp., 440 S. McLean Blvd., and an arson investigator determined the fire could not have started on its own, according to police reports. After several interviews Clough admitted to using a lighter to ignite the wrapping on a section of pipe in the building, costing the company $46,000 to reverse the damages, police reports said. Fender, a Huntley trustee for eight years and Grafton Township's one-time administrator, says she's focused on building a new life — one that will likely be outside of Huntley. Village President Chuck Sass and six-year Trustee John Piwko — both incumbents — were sworn into to office, as were newly elected trustees Ronda Goldman and JR Westberg. At the same time, the village said goodbye to trustees Pam Fender and Ron Hahn.
