			<description>Seniors at Jacobs, Hampshire and Dundee-Crown high schools will have the opportunity to take a new math class next year with a textbook designed especially for them. The course was developed by the Alliance for College Readiness which includes Elgin Community College and all of its feeder high school districts &amp;#8212; Elgin Area School District U-46, St. Charles Community Unit District 303, Burlington-based Central Unit District 301, and Carpentersville-based Community Unit District 300, the only district to offer the course next year.</description>

During a Friday morning bond hearing, bail was set at $100,000 for Kevin Gorman, 30, of Streamwood, while bail was set at $35,000 for Jacob A. Braden, 22, of Bartlett. Both men remained behind bars as of Friday afternoon.</description>

For Streamwood (5-18, 2-13, Jessica Daley went 3-for-4 with a double and Holly Foret was 3-for-3 with an RBI. And they used them for much more than 3 hits. Senior Lori Obendorf and junior Alise Perna each hit home runs and Metea Valley pounded out 13 hits off two South Elgin pitchers, then used a clutch performance from senior Stephanie Bova in the circle to hold off the Storm 8-7 in an Upstate Eight Conference Valley Division game on South Elgin's senior day.</description>

Just as they disposed of Elgin Academy (8-0) and Westminster Christian (7-0) similarly last week in regionals, the Green Wave yet again put on a show early in a 7-0 win over the Wildcats in a Class 1A Westminster Christian sectional semifinal in Elgin.</description>
