This is in response to the recent articles in the Elgin newspaper in which a cat had been abandoned on someone's porch and then they were told to take it to the Elgin police station, where a police officer then just dumped it out in front of the station in freezing weather, which didn't really surprise me.

President Obama gave a precise speech noting that jobs is his first concern. Our community banks need to begin to lend to the builders and small businesses to spur growth if we are to see any change.

Those of us that supported President Obama will not forgive him for failure to deliver on his promise of health care reform. He needs to demonstrate the fortitude and leadership that is required in this highly partisan era of politics.

Without going into the merits/demerits of red light cameras, I would like to make a request of the municipalities, police departments, city councils etc. who have implemented them or are going to implement them, within their jurisdiction.

In response to the Jan. 26 letter from Rev. Stephen H. Swanson on health care, Reverend, I hope you're not suggesting that we condemn our fellow citizens to months of pain while waiting in line to even see a doctor or condemning ourselves to living in pain with a cancer because the medicine is too expensive.
