Patrick Kunzer has served in the role as Night Photo Editor at the Daily Herald since 2006. In that role, he coordinates pictures and their use online and in the print edition of the newspaper. He manages photo staffs during the evening hours, and assists in the design of various sections of the print edition.

Prior to that, he was a staff photographer working from the newspaper's Elgin bureau. In that role, he traveled to cover events such as the Illini Road to the Final Four in college basketball and the Democratic National Convention. He also traveled to China as part of the newspaper's Suburban Mosaic Series, coverage for which he won both a Lisagor Award for Exemplary Journalism as well as a Chicago Journalism Association best photos of the year award. He has also won Illinois Press Photographer Association's Feature Picture of the Year award.

Prior to that he served as a staff photographer at the Northwest Herald in Crystal Lake.

He lives in Marengo with his wife and five daughters.
