Colin O'Donnell is Senior Vice President/Director of Content and Strategic Planning for the Daily Herald Media Group. In that role, he leads the company’s strategic initiatives in all areas while also directly overseeing the company’s leaders in the editorial, digital, production and IT departments.

He also is a member of the editorial board.

Colin started his career with the Daily Herald in 1983 and has held numerous newsroom positions such as Managing Editor, Metro Editor, Weekend Editor, Assistant City Editor, and as a reporter for business and local news.

In both his roles as a reporter and editor he has been honored several times, including Peter Lisagor and Associated Press awards. He also has been named an employee of the year.

Colin has been a corporate officer of the company since 2003.

He is a Mount Prospect native and Prospect High School graduate who earned his B.A. from Northern Illinois University and a M.A. from University of Illinois at Springfield.

A Naperville resident and father of four, Colin is an avid runner who is in the process of running marathons in all 50 states.
