Bob LeGere has been covering the Chicago Bears and the NFL for the Daily Herald since 1993. Prior to that, he worked at Pro Football Weekly for 12 years covering the NFL.

He grew up in Elmhurst following some horrible Bears and Cubs teams.

Unfortunately he is old enough to remember the Bears' 1963 world championship, and the memory of the Cubs' collapse in 1969 is still a bitter one.

He spends way too much time at ESPN.com, paying particular attention to Len Pasquarelli's NFL stories.

Oct 26 2016 | 2:37 pm - As quarterback Jay Cutler observed, he could have picked a better time to return from the sprained right thumb that sidelined him for five games. Cutler’s first game back is against a Minnesota Vikings defense that’s No. 1 in the NFL.

Chicago Bears’ Cutler unaware of any QB competition

Oct 22 2016 | 6:51 pm - Brian Hoyer’s broken arm makes coach John Fox’s decision to go back to Jay Cutler as the Bears’ starting quarterback a no-brainer. But only if Cutler is fully recovered from the sprained thumb he suffered in Week Two.

Packers send wounded Bears to 1-6

Oct 21 2016 | 12:20 am - It was a war of attrition Thursday night in the 193rd game of the Bears-Packers series, the most played rivalry in NFL history. But the Packers had quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and the Bears didn’t. That was the big difference in Green...

Bears LB McPhee activated for first time all season

Oct 21 2016 | 12:20 am - Outside linebacker Pernell McPhee was activated Thursday afternoon from the physically-unable-to-perform list six days after he began practicing for the first time since January. And rookie outside linebacker Leonard Floyd returned after missing two...

Can Bears defense implement Fangio's plan to beat Packers?

Oct 20 2016 | 6:36 am - According to Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio, there is a basic formula for success against quarterback Aaron Rodgers and the 3-2 Green Bay Packers. But that doesn't mean it's easy. And it doesn't mean the Bears have the players...

Bears QB Hoyer following plan, still failing in red zone

Oct 19 2016 | 8:22 pm - In response to questions about a passing attack that seems overly conservative, Chicago Bears fill-in quarterback Brian Hoyer has often repeated that he is throwing the ball where his progressions take him and where he’s coached to go.

Chicago Bears’ offensive line may be without Sitton

Oct 18 2016 | 7:14 pm - The Bears’ offensive line has shown signs of jelling into a formidable unit, but if an ankle injury keeps three-time Pro Bowl left guard Josh Sitton out of Thursday’s game, it would disrupt the continuity that has developed over the...
