Arlington Heights gas station robbed of $400 at gunpoint

A man brandishing a handgun held up a Shell gas station in Arlington Heights this week, taking $400 from the register, police said Friday.

The police department's crime alerts on Friday reported the armed robbery took place at 6:27 p.m. Monday at the station at Central and Arlington Heights roads.

The offender, wearing a blue surgical face mask and with the hood of his dark-colored sweatshirt pulled over his head, stole the money "under threat of force," according to the report.

The robber then ran east on Central, police said. He was described as a white man, approximately 20 to 25 years old, with a thin build, wearing the hooded sweatshirt, black pants and clear plastic gloves.
